5 Celebrities with ADHD

ADHD may sometimes feel like the stumbling block to a successful and happy life, but that is so far from the truth. ADHD does not have to stop anyone from achieving lifelong goals. Sure, I may never learn Chinese, but I know I can do so much more. So here are 5 celebrities who struggle with ADHD.

1. Zoey Deschanel

Zoey Deschanel, best known for her roles in Elf and New Girl first shared her ADHD diagnosis in 2011 in a blogpost for HelloGiggles where she said she turns to crafts to help her focus. She does not take medication for her diagnosis but says she recognizes she will never complete something that takes any kind of patience, so she focuses on things she “CAN” complete.

2. Emma Watson

Emma Watson, beautiful actress and determined women's activist has been medicated for ADHD since she was a child. Although she has not openly spoken about her diagnosis it is empowering to know someone as successful as her has felt as out of control as us.

3. John Lennon

John Lennon, songwriter and singer from one of the most famous and influential bands in history, The Beatles is believed to have suffered from ADHD. He had a lot of difficulty in school which eventually led him to drop out however that did not stop him from becoming one of the most famous people in the world.

4. Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey has been open about his ADHD diagnosis his entire acting career. He was restless as a child and admitted to finishing his school work quickly in order to disrupt other kids. As an adult, he has been able to use his ADHD symptoms to his advantage in both his comedian acts and movie roles such as the Grinch in How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Truman from The Truman Show to become one of the most familiar and recognizable actors in Hollywood.

5. Howie Mandel

Howie Mandel was diagnosed with ADHD as well as OCD as an adult but says that he “doesn’t remember a time” when he didn’t have them. In the 1960’s his symptoms didn’t have a name so they became “quirks” he used in his comedy acts. The ability to live in the moment is how he was able to become so memorable in his acts and become as famous as he is today

Don’t let the little things you struggle with today become something you can’t move past tomorrow. ADHD cannot stop you if you don’t let it! Success is just over the horizon!
